Why Two Creation Stories?

Bible scholars will give several different answers to why there are two creation narratives at the beginning of Genesis.  I would like to focus on the spiritual reasons for why two creation stories?  There are two creation stories focused on creation and man and woman over creation.  But if one looks even deeper, one begins to spiritually see there is physical birth and there is spiritual birth.  There is creation and there is the new creation.

Here is how the four gospels begin in telling this story of Genesis to fulfillment in Christ.  John 1:1-2 is like a summary of the other gospels.

Listen to John 1:1-2:
(v.1) In the beginning - Christ (Matthew)
Christ was the Word of God (Mark)
The Word (Christ) is God (Luke)
(v.2) Christ in the beginning with God (John's gospel)

There is this second creation of second sight, second birth, and second creation.  Now listen to how the other gospels tell the creation story.

Listen to Matthew 1:1:
(v1) The genealogy of Jesus fulfills the genealogy of Genesis.
In the beginning -  Christ

Listen to Mark 1:1-2:
(v.1) The beginning of the gospel of Jesus.  The good news of God's Word in Christ.
(v.2) It is written.
Christ was the Word of God

Listen to Luke 1:1-2:
(v.1) Jesus story fulfills Genesis.  This word from the beginning is Christ.
(v.2) There are eyewitnesses to the word.
The Word (Christ) is God

This is why the gospel of John is one of the most spiritually deep, rich, and mystical gospel.  All the gospels but particularly John's gospel points us all to Christ as this pure gospel shapes us to be a new creature, a new creation in Christ.
