I just got back from the Water to Wine Conference and met so many wonderful Christians there. Brian Zahnd's church hosted the event and many of Brian's friends were there speaking like Brad Jersak, Joe Beach, Jonathan Martin, and Matthew Williams. Issues provocatively discussed were nationalism, Zionism, consumerism, materialism, Biblicism, and a plethora of issues that leads Christians away from Christ and towards mistaken pathways.
People came away saying I did not know there were so many smart Christians. What really impressed me was a good majority of the participants were around 35 years old or younger. Here was a conference of many younger people on a spiritual journey like Brian Zahnd that wants to throw off the water-down koolaide of pop-evangelical Christianity and drink the substance of strong wine that comes through the gospel of Jesus that permeates one's being and works towards biblical justice across all the walls that divide so many people from each other. This conference gives me hope for the future for those walking in the deep waters of church history and Christ-centered Christianity.
