What are you hearing from God?

As I have been listening to God's Spirit more lately, here are several things God has been putting on my heart to consider.

1.  Learn Mercy:  Mercy is far greater and more of what every follower of Jesus needs to be filled with in every relationship.  Don't assume you know everything about mercy much less you truly understand it.  Let the Holy Spirit teach you more about mercy.

2.  Don't preach logic but preach God's Word by God's power.  It's all about the power of God in your life.  Anything less than the power of God is less than what God wants for you.

3.  We are not called to be lawyers for God but witnesses to God.  God can defend himself.  We are to humbly share with others what we see God doing in us and around us.

My simple prayer today is simply this:  "Lord, make me a coin in your pocket and spend me any way you want."

Listen

I listen to the earth breathing
I hear the birds of heaven soar
I watch the great lights of the heavens
I touch the mountain of God's presence

I am an alter of the most high God
I am no longer a stranger within myself
The sacred guest now has made his dwelling inside

Consume me with holy fire and make me pure
Cast out any unclean spirits from my soul
Close my ears to the wicked words around me

Let the echoes of heaven be heard
For in listening I discover my true self
Obeying the prisoner that is set free is me

Shut Up and Sit Down!

People don't always know what to do with Paul's words to women.  One place in Corinthians the women are giving prophecies and another place they are told to shut up and sit down (1 Corinthians 11, 14).  But maybe these words should not just be applied just to women.  Maybe God is telling all of us to shut up and sit down, even men!  Maybe in the fast-paced busyness of life, God says to us like parents would to their children, "stop running," "slow down," "be still," and "stay where you are!"  Can we pause, look, and listen?  Isn't God speaking to us in every waking moment of our life and even in our moments of rest and sleep?  What appointments or work is more important than our time with God?
